She has recently moved into a historic brownstone in Philadelphia and needed a litany of items hung from a knife rack to shelves to pictures to a large screen TV - and so much more.

Todd hung everything with care and precision and my daughter was thrilled at the end of the day when we could check 16 things off her list including several small repairs. We really enjoyed “spending the day” with Todd as he went about his work.

(From Yelp)  There are 5 star reviews that exist because everything went right. And then there are 5 star reviews because something went wrong, and the company MADE it right.

This is the latter of those two scenarios.

Home Hero came to install curtains, a TV and a few rods and the first person they sent out wasn't quite able to finish the job due to the fact that we lived in a high rise and the studs were actually made from impenetrable steel (Who knew!). We had a few smaller issues with the work as well. None of it irreparable but we were left dissatisfied enough to let Home Hero know. They IMMEDIATELY reached out to us and asked how they could make it right and went through great effort to do just that. They sent a second person back out and finished the job.

I was incredibly impressed with Pete (The owner, I gather) and his team's unquestioning devotion to making sure our work was finished and to our standards. Things go wrong on jobs. It just happens. And that's going to happen with ANYONE who comes into your home in a handyman type capacity. But after working with Home Hero's, it should be appreciated that not every contractor will go the extra mile to make sure you are happy with the work, and go back in and correct it if you're not. Thanks again to the two handymen at HH as well as Pete and Lea back at the office.

Moved a TV and remounted, fixed a hole in the floor, and installed door handles/paper towel holders/etc. Now I'm the office hero without any of the work. He also called me the night before so he could pick up the supplies he would need instead of waiting until the day of to have to leave and run out for supplies, which I really appreciated. Will definitely be using Home Hero for future needs.

The plumber was punctual, was able to diagnose and repair the problem quickly. The handyman who performed the other tasks was meticulous with the painting and caulking and gluing. Both gentlemen arrived on time which in South Philadelphia is a real plus. I thought the price was fair.

(From Yelp) After buying my first home in April, I was anxious to have some handy work done in my new home. It was a total rehab when I bought it but there were still things to be done to make it my own. I needed ceiling fans but wiring had to be done. Pictures and shelving needed to be hung as well as other miscellaneous projects. Although I tried another service, I was told by them that I would not be able to install ceiling fans. Then came The Home Hero who told me I could absolutely run wiring for ceiling fans so I scheduled my visits.

I cannot say enough about The Home Hero's electrician, Jeff. He drilled wholes in my ceiling so he could run wire and then had to cut into my wall to run in down -- he and Leaf were very considerate of my home. They were neat, covered furniture, vacuumed where necessary and put everything back in place. They came back a few days later to paint as the spackle needed to set. You cannot tell where the cuts in the walls were nor that areas had been repainted. As for the other services, all projects were completed. They are prompt, courteous, "know their stuff" and most of all respectful of your home. I highly recommend The Home Hero! I look forward to working with them again!

(From Yelp)  This is the second time I have used Home Hero: the first was to replace a bathroom vanity and sink and this time was to build a closet in my finished basement, construct a wood covering for my electrical panel, and paint the entire basement space, including the ceiling. Troy and Bruce did a fantastic job, asking me questions and resolving tricky issues along the way. They were prompt, courteous, and showed up each of the five consecutive days they were scheduled. They showed up exactly on time and finished the whole job within about 4 hours. They removed all of the tiling and flooring with precision and cleaned up everything after they were done. They were super friendly, knowledgeable and professional. We've already scheduled them again to replace the sub flooring in the master shower. Would highly recommend!

This is not always the case when you need someone to get some serious work done!m They can install lights, hang drapes, mount TVs, remove chandeliers, and pretty much anything you can think of!

Despite horrendous winter weather the week of the scheduled work, no time was missed and the work was completed on time. I needed to have all my appliances pulled out (stove, refrigerator, wine cooler) to plug any holes in the walls to guard against 'unintended guests'. I also had to have them check behind the baseboards and repair one that had been damaged. I was immediately pleased from the very first interaction via email from the office manager Leah. I had sent a request via the website and she quickly contacted me to clarify the details, provide a quote and set an appointment date. She was very responsive, clear and professional. On my appointment date, I was equally pleased with Randall who was able to complete the work in a quality fashion. He also had a helpful idea for sealing back the baseboards with Velcro to prevent future damage from pulling them off. He was careful with all my appliances and even cleaned out the areas behind them. The next day, Pete the owner followed up to ensure the work was completed to my satisfaction. (From Yelp)  I can't say enough good things about The Home Hero. First, their marketing is genius. Their "Schoolhouse Rocky"-inspired logo stuck in my brain. My hero zero! Five stars for marketing.

Then, I visited their website, which explains exactly what they do and don't offer, has referral service for what little they don't offer, and allows you to send photos and descriptions electronically of the job(s) you want done so they have an idea of what you want before their inspection visit. Five stars for web design.

Then the business owner personally visited to inspect the site. He kept in constant text contact, and even asked to come early, to which I readily agreed. He did not keep me waiting, was very congenial, had a real can-do attitude, and even talked me out of rushing into certain jobs now, which really impressed me. Five stars for responsiveness and integrity.

Within HOURS, his manager had emailed me a detailed quote, a work schedule, and a referral for HVAC services. I had a question about certain details, and she was very responsive and willing to work with me. They asked me to pay half down, and the other half when the work was done. I was able to pay with a click of my computer touchpad from a link in their email. It was so easy. Five stars for that part too!

Then the company sent me email reminders of each day of the work schedule. I have had such bad experiences with contractors in the past, that even after all this professionalism, the cynical part of my brain kept thinking, "yeah, for all the reminders YOU'RE sending ME, we'll see if your workers are punctual." He was! One guy came for three visits. He came on time, did a great job with each visit, and cleaned up after each phase of the work. I even had to pick up my kids from school, bring them home, cook and serve dinner while he worked, and their buzzing around him didn't phase him! He demonstrated the utmost professionalism! He finished the work on time, kept to the schedule, and shook my hand as he left. FIVE. STARS.

If every contractor operated like The Home Hero, our world would be an ecumenopolitan utopia. I'll definitely be using The Home Hero again!

I called Home Heroes and they sent me a quote right away and were able to get someone out to my house the next day. Unfortunately, it was a more complicated job than had been expected, but they were able to complete it within a 48 hour time frame and could not have been more accommodating during our emergency situation. They did a great job with the installation. I am thankful to have found the Home Heroes and highly recommend them.

Recently, Randall came out to our house to repair some minor issues that have resulted in major improvements. The top of the stairs is not threatening to break off; the metal toilet paper roll is now firmly affixed to the bathroom wall and doesn't fall to the floor with a loud clang every time you pull on it; and now the entire family can hang their coats on nifty wooden racks instead of tossing them on the floor or the banister. So I wanted to post about my recent experience with Peter Rose, 'The Home Hero', who was one of the recommendations I was given from mom's on this group list serve when I was in need of someone to help me with baby proofing my home. Not sure about all of you, but working full-time, leaves me with minimal resources left to conquer the idea of baby proofing the home...the idea of needing to do this was completely overwhelming to me! Basically Peter took care of EVERYTHING from creative ways to baby proof impossible things in the house, to purchasing these items, as well as taking my anxiety away and making myself, my husband, and Isabella laugh in the process! He also did way more than just baby proofing. We had so many things that we had wanted to take care of in the house but 'just never got around to it' such as mounting a flat screen, building shelves, basement issues, rewiring things, etc. Also, I cannot speak enough to, and I am sure you all can understand, to be able to go to work and trust the person you are leaving in your home! OK so I had another contractor do some work in my house & majorly C#cked it up. That same contractor wanted to charge me hundreds more to fix HIS mistakes - are you kidding me....

So I did what I should have done in the first place checked Yelp, I always trust yelp and lessoned learned.

I got the half day handy man package with Home Hero and I have to say sheeez the guy that came out Chris was amazing...... fixed the mess the previous contractor made & did a waaaaaaay better job, he then put together a basketball hoop for my 7 year old son in my backyard & also did an amazing job installing a swinging chair that hangs from the ceiling for my son.

There were absolutely NO corners cut with Home Hero and it seemed like no job was too big or too small for Home Hero. If I ever need work around the house again I WILL be calling home hero again, even the office staff were friendly and helpful over the phone and unlike other contractors they didnt expect all the money upfront. I paid half when I booked & half upon completion.....

All other contractors need to take a lesson from Home Hero - YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

My husband and I found ourselves in a time crunch last October when we finally acknowledged we needed to repair our decrepit kitchen floor before his hip replacement surgery in November. Not having good experiences dealing with contractors in the past, I guardedly contacted The Home Hero to get an estimate for the work. The day of our initial appointment with Pete I was held up at work so my husband met with him to explain what we had in mind. Imagine my surprise when I got home to hear my typically cynical husband say we should hire The Home Hero and he did not think we needed to speak with any other contractors. I KNEW at that moment that The Home Hero had to be something special. Believe me, I was not disappointed.

Despite the fact that I was well aware of the tight time frame for getting the floor replaced, before Pete’s crew could begin I convinced my husband that it made sense to renovate the powder room since it was right off the kitchen. Each time I added a new project to the ever-increasing inventory of work to be performed, Pete patiently and humorously revised his estimates (at least four times).

Once i finally stopped with the additional requests, Pete provided us with the final estimate and the work was scheduled. Let me tell you, if I did not feel comfortable using The Home Hero at that point (Though, I DID!), I certainly would have after meeting The Home Hero crew – Jeff and Steve. Where did Pete find a crew as friendly, knowledgeable, patient, trustworthy and skilled as he is?

Jeff and Steve were a pleasure to have around and I never felt inconvenienced by their presence. In fact, I felt so comfortable with them being in the house that I didn’t have any reservations giving them the house key. Not only did I find Jeff and Steve to be dependable and approachable, they were also very skilled. They found solutions for the many issues that came with renovating my old house with its uneven floors and outdated plumbing.

The area above the fireplace has dry wall over cement and more than the TV mount came with down with the removal and the ceiling had soot marks from the heat from the TV and fireplace. They left the home clean every day before they left and always were timely and polite. However, the one thing I'd say is that they were on the expensive side. However, I'm also not sure how much things in general should cost since I'm not a handyperson, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I would recommend the work that they provided.

To find an outfit that not only specializes in small projects but is also reliable, reasonably priced and does top-quality work... honestly, I'm still in shock. I hired Home Hero to install an exterior mailbox and some bi-fold doors on two odd-sized closets. It required quite a bit of custom fiddling and Bruce did a truly excellent job. Start to finish, everyone was friendly and professional. Their office manager was super responsive when I had questions. And they send you your quotes and invoices online and accept online payments. I will be using them again for sure.

Leah runs a responsive and organized office and we just had Josh at our house to install several cabinets in our children's room. Josh is skillful, methodical and quick. He solved the hanging arrangement of our shelves by a combination of brackets and making his own supports into the studs. We are having them back to install a fan and other shelves. I would recommend to family. Very pleased.

Note: People complain about prices alot on yelp. You get what you pay for. This group is superb as their craftsmanship shows. For their speed and quality, I think they are worth every penny they charge.

(From Yelp) We love Home Hero, and have used them for a number of projects, but this time around they lived up to the company name even more than usual, coming through with a can-do attitude on a particularly frustrating project. We ordered a new washer dryer set from an appliance company that was completely flummoxed by the prospect of fitting these machines into our South Philly row home. (One sales person I spoke with even went so far as to suggest I should "get a bigger house" but that's for another review). After 2 failed delivery attempts over 2 weeks we were at our wits end. Home Hero's Bruce, Troy, Jeff, Brock, Leah, Eli and Pete all went above and beyond with scheduling, heavy lifting and creative thinking to get the machines into our house and make everything right. All this on top of the projects that they were actually scheduled to do for us! Breathing a huge sigh of relief right now and so grateful to all of them.

When someone is good at what they do they make it look easy. Josh was professional, punctual and courteous. When I had to keep home my sick baby from daycare, Josh made sure not to do noisy drilling into brick while our son was napping. Instead he did the "quiet work" (painting and caulking) until our son Zeke awoke. And he didn't leave a mess anywhere. As a mom of two small kids who are always leaving a mess everywhere I very much appreciated this!

Pete comes to your house and assesses what needs to be done, then emails you an estimate. A few days later you have a technician arrive spot on time and work through the toughest problems. We had some issues with construction problems and Ken and Eli assessed the situation and arrived at a solution. Ken's work is superb. Eli is super knowledgable and really helpful. Ken's courteous and neat (he even apologized for taking so long when he was solving a big problem)! Some people might think they are high priced but they do quality work right the first time as opposed to countless trips to Lowe's or Home Depot, buying the wrong thing or missing parts. You know the drill. Rely on Home Hero to get it done right the first time. Leah is their scheduler and she's so nice and courteous. They reply quickly to emails or calls.

He took a job that was difficult and with patience and smarts, came up with a perfect solution. I would hire him for any job in my home. I have already told 2 of my friends in the building. (From Yelp) We've used the home hero in the past for around-the-house work like installing light fixtures, etc. We had a special job last week involving both "normal" work (lots of bookshelves to secure), as well as "odd jobs" - stringing our tree with 100 lights (required the use of a very tall ladder) and anchoring some major Halloween decorations. We got lucky because the hero they sent this time had a background in theatre. This came in handy when we needed to somehow prop up/weigh down an enormous, inflatable, animatronic dragon on our roof.

The gentleman took stock of the "odd" needs, drove to Home Depot for supplies, and returned to begin work. Our shelves look amazing. We had a zigzag style in mind he understood what I was trying to explain and executed it flawlessly. Our dragon is perfectly perched on the edge of our roof for maximum Halloween fun. We are very happy with The Home Hero and will continue to use their services.

The handyman was polite, considerate, and kept me up to date on his progress and completion expectations. I was so happy, that when I received a gift certificate (awesome gift!) for another package that I knew I had to start saving up a lot of chores for my next visit from them! Randall came out today and was just a pleasure. He made a huge dent in the (extensive) list I had compiled. He cut a hole in my ceiling for a plumber to investigate a leak, hung up 4 custom blinds, recaulked around my tub and windows, stabilized a tilting cabinet, replaced the vanity light in the bathroom, and sealed some holes in my bathroom ceiling fixture! All this with a run to Home Depot to pick up supplies I requested! I honestly couldn't be happier and I know another gift certificate from The Home Hero will be on my next wish list!
