Everyone knows it’s really hard to be a Superhero. Trains are always falling off bridges, robbers are always breaking into bank vaults, and we can’t even tell you how many cats get stuck up in the trees on a daily basis.  To say the least, the one thing Superheroes are NOT great at is having enough time to get everything done!

Homeowners are the exact same way.  Between work, school, dinner, activities, sports, social lives, there’s no time to get anything around the house done these days.  Least of all, those nagging “Honey-Do” list items that your significant other has been begging you to do for over a year now.

So what’s the solution?  Well, sure, call a Handyman, anyone can do that right?  But then you have to bring in three or four different ones to get quotes, and that means missing work to meet these jokers.  Then two show up late, and one doesn’t show up at all. Then you have to wait around for them to send the estimates so you can compare.  Some take a few days, some take weeks, and some never even get back to you at all. And you still haven’t even got anything done yet!!

Frustrated yet?!  Sounds like a job for The Home Hero!  Philadelphia’s ONLY Super-Powered Handyman Service.

We’ve all had it happen at one time or another. The forces of evil in the universe conspire to damage the place you hold most sacred, your home. Whether it be from rain, leaks, mold, electrical and plumbing repairs, or coyote inspired flying anvils… having holes in your walls can leave a giant gaping hole in your heart.  Drywall repair the hard way and the easy way.

But what’s a poor helpless homeowner to do in times of trouble like these? Repairing drywall can be an overwhelming project that requires time, experience, tools, and supplies not usually lying around in one’s Man Cave or She-Shed.

For all those weekend warriors that want to try it yourselves, here are some simple instructions you can follow for the 4-5 day process:

  1. Cut the damaged drywall out larger to make it square using a utility knife or drywall saw

  2. Cut a new square piece of drywall that matches the size of the hole you cut out

  3. Install additional lumber inside the wall to receive the new piece of drywall and secure with drywall screws

  4. Install the new piece of drywall over the new lumber and secure with drywall screws

  5. Apply mesh tape over all areas where the edges of original drywall and new drywall meet

  6. Apply the 1st coat of green top spackle over the entire area using a 4-6” putty knife to at least 2-4” out from the damaged area, keeping it as smooth and thin as possible

  7. After 24 hours, apply another coat using blue top spackle with a 6-8” spackle blade, spreading the spackle over a wider area, going 4-6” out past the previous spackle area, remember less is more

  8. After 24 hours, a light sanding with a fine grit sanding block, and likely a 3rd coat of blue top will be required, continuing to spread the area out wider and smoother than before

  9. After another 24 hours, do a final sanding with a fine grit sanding block, then apply the primer to all spackled areas.  After drying, apply 2 coats of matching paint to the repair area, with 4-6 hours in between each coat to dry

  10. If the paint match is not close enough, you can repaint the entire wall edge to edge in matching paint, to hide any color discrepancy between the old paint and new paint at the corners where it won’t be noticeable.

And that’s all there is to drywall repair!  Super easy, right?! And of course, you know it will come out looking great the first time you try it.  Won’t it?!

Now, for the rest of you, you probably want it fixed fast and done right the first time, right?  Drywall repair sounds like a job for The Home Hero! Philadelphia’s ONLY Super-Powered Handyman Service.
